Zero - Fast

Fasting is something I started in the fall and my body responds well to it.
I reduced my caloric intake and fasting just made sense as a complimentary action to take towards my health.
As we age, we no longer need a high caloric intake as we are no longer growing. And we don’t need to eat as often - 3 square meals a day feels excessive and archaic to me now. For kids running around school all day it makes sense, for mid adult life it doesn’t work, not for me anyways.
I downloaded the Zero app and started fasting 18:6 and I found that I was regularly exceeding the 18 hours of fasting and eating less than 6 hours.

My average fast is around 19-20 hours and I eat for about 4 hours everyday.
I don’t necessarily count calories, but I always check food packages for calories and I estimate each day. I aim for anywhere between 1500-1800 calories a day, give or take here and there. It usually works out to one medium sized meal and a small snack. I’ll be sure to post some of the meals and snacks that I eat.
Feeling hungry is a good thing as it is a true sign that I need to eat and I only eat when I’m hungry. It helps to ensure I’m not eating out of boredom, routine schedule (just because it’s 12 PM, doesn’t always mean it’s lunch time) or eating my feelings.
I’m always trying to focus my meals to have protein and eggs are usually my go to. I no longer eat bread, dairy, or pasta which even surprises me, but I don’t miss them. Once in a while, I’ll have pasta with the kids or pizza, but those are rare. I eat chocolate almost everyday as my little sweet treat.
Again, this may not be for everyone, but it works for me.

I love zero too. I think like you I’m going to change from 16/8 to 18/6 starting now. Keep posting!
